Car and Driver noted in 1988 that the 560SEC “is not only a sporting coupe of staggering range and versatility but a sporting coupe unique in the automotive world today.”
And 30 years later these sleek and quick coupes have become highly collectible when in the condition of this signal red example. Exceptional 560SECs are very difficult to source. With only 8,706 US 560SECs constructed the SEC is far rarer than the highly valued 560SL which saw 45,469 units constructed.
An indicator of just how special an SEC was when new would be its cost relative to the SL. A new 1988 560SL cost $61,130 while a new SEC was $75,850.
